In a League of its Own

It's only recently that I started reading Harper's Bazaar India, but then again Bazaar's Indian edition is only two years old. This magazine is easily my favourite fashion magazine. Part of the reason could be that I am a professed bibliophile, you know that strange clan of people who love not just reading but buying and owning books as well. Bazaar's pages are thicker and of better quality than most other magazines for women. The moment you open it, you are blown away by the smell of crisp quality paper and fresh printing ink (Yes I admit! I spend a lot of time just sniffing the pages and running my fingers over the dazzling photos!). It doesn't struggle to squeeze in content on every topic that (allegedly) appeal to women. It has a neat focus on fashion (almost 80% of the total content) and the rest of it is on beauty, designers, celebrities, etc. The moment I get hold of an issue, I turn straight to the beauty section headed by Jhelum Biswas Bose. I love the relaxed vein in which she writes, always eager to try on new products and latest make-up trends. The pages on fashion are dominated by brilliant photography by a team of internationally reputed fashion photographers. There is always enough information on where to buy the products featured.

Product Review: M.A.C. Wipes

I bought this a few weeks back from the new M.A.C store in the city and let me begin by telling you that I just love this product! This is what M.A.C.'s online store / website (which ships only to Canada and the USA) says about this product:

"Swipes away makeup, smudges, dirt and grime, pronto! Oversized, luxurious, super-saturated with special M·A·C cleanser infused with protective vitamin E. Hydrates and nourishes highly efficiently. Extremely refreshing. Totally addictive. Slickly packed, re-sealable, ready to go!"

I'm happy to announce that these wipes do live up to the claims. I first used them at the store. There they give you these wipes freely to wipe off swatches and any make-up you have tried on you. Each wipe is so luxuriously moist with such soothing and nourishing ingredients that I just fell in love with it right from my first use. The wipes have an enchanting fresh fragrance that lingers on your skin and hands long after you have used them. It also moisturizes your skin, so that by using one of these, you could skip the nightly cleanse-tone-moisturize regimen on rare occasions when you are back home feeling too tired to even wash your face. For me, using them is such a pleasurable activity that I caught myself covertly hoping I would get home feeling lazy and tired just so I'll have an excuse to use them!

Also check out the following fact file that I compiled for you based on my experience with them:

Special Tip: Some noted that their wipes aren't as moist as the ones that are supplied in M.A.C. stores. I haven't had this problem so far. They told me at the store that the trick is to keep the package upside down on your dressing table. Doing this ensures that the moisture drains down onto the wipes. This is how I always keep my pack on my vanity table. The wipes are definitely really handy, especially during these scorching dog days of Indian summer!
That's all about it. I'll soon be back with another fresh post! Take care!

What is Muliebrity?

I've never blogged before. So this is my very first blog post ever! I have always deliberately stayed away from blogging (but not blogs). As a matter of fact, on many occasions, I have flat out declared that weblogs are inutile. I still can't believe I, of all people, am blogging.

Of late, beauty has become a major subject of my thoughts. Over the past few months, I've observed myself splurging on make-up and beauty products like never before. I have also been consulting a lot of popular beauty blogs for reviews and tips and most of them are reliable, beautiful sources of a wealth of practical information. I have had so much fun trying new products and styles that I just have to write about it.

But, first off, what is muliebrity? When I was searching for a positive, evocative word for sublime, refined womanhood, I came across this effective word. This is how my OED defines this word (Click on the image for an enlarged snapshot of the entry) (From Oxford English Dictionary 20 vol. print set):

It is this repertoire of mysterious muliebral qualities and traits that I intend to celebrate in my blog.

I'm keeping this blog mainly for myself. But if someone else finds it interesting or useful, that will be an added incentive. This will be an irregular blog in that I won't be posting regularly. I'm not good at prolonged focus on a single subject. Therefore this blog will deal with a smorgasbord of topics such as make-up, fashion, beauty tips, movies and more.

See you soon with my next post!
